Volunteering
I began volunteering at the age of 9. During the Covid pandemic, my family and I moved to my grandparents' house in Fresno, CA. In these challenging times, I saw on the news that wildfires were causing significant devastation around the Shaver Lake mountains, a place of fond childhood memories with my grandparents. The sight of fires destroying homes, schools, and parks deeply saddened me and ignited my first spark to help the community. I initiated a GoFundMe campaign to match the funds in my piggy bank. This campaign gained media attention and was a huge success, collecting more funds than anticipated. With these funds, I was able to create Halloween goodie bags and candy to bring smiles to children affected by the wildfires, and with the excess, I donated Christmas holiday gifts to the children as well. Thereafter, I continued my community service by helping at local food banks during weekends and holidays.
